Choice of Dining Venues

Seniors want choices and the ability to choose among dining venues is a valuable option. To accentuate choice and contrast the new informal bistro, the design team updated the existing cafeteria to create a restaurant-style atmosphere.

Creating a Bright, Restaurant-Style Atmosphere

  • The Cristwood Community Dining Room had an out-dated color scheme of a cool gray carpet and bright white walls and linens. The theme of artificial plants at the light coves and low partitions added clutter instead of refinement. The dining entry lacked intentional design.
  • Alliance partners, Sechrist Design, created an elegant dining entry with carefully chosen artwork, antique furniture, and lighting setting the atmosphere. SAGE provided permit drawings for the upgrade. The added walls direct the spatial flow and also have a very functional role of concealing walker storage.

Create Intimate Scale

The Remodeled Dining Room effectively breaks down the room’s scale and adds a sense of intimacy with attractively detailed banquettes and a gas fireplace. The room has been rendered in the warm colors of oranges, browns, and wood furniture.
